Get to know Jonathan Grubb, Our Director of Design!

from design concepts to branding and marketing, he elevates design on everything he touches!

June 15, 2021

As part of the team for over 8 years, Grubb leads our Architectural Design team.  This team creates our preliminary site and master planning studies, develops design concepts, and produces interior and exterior 3D models and renders, taking projects through the necessary design approval processes to push the project forward.

Jonathan received his undergraduate degree in Architecture and minor in Urban Design from Miami University (Go Hawks!) and his Masters in Architecture from THE Ohio State University, Knowlton School of Architecture. Jonathan is also a Lecturer of Retail Environments within the Fashion and Retail Studies program at Ohio State.

With the world of 3D modeling evolving at such a rapid pace, it’s great to have this talented team continuing to learn the latest tools to support our clients’ needs for understanding how the spaces will look and feel once they are built. Jonathan thrives in “real-time” design, spinning our clients around and through models so they really can understand the scale of a space and what the user experience will be.

Jonathan is often our client’s first phone call about a new project.  He is insanely calm and creative at understanding a projects needs and a client’s business goals for a site and developing a concept that meets or exceeds those criteria that positively impacts the community and surrounding area.  “Master planning is much more than looking at a site within a set of defined property lines and right of ways”, says Jonathan, ”It is about understanding and enhancing the dynamic relationship and interconnectedness of the greater urban context.”

A few interesting facts about Grubb (as known in the office)…..As a childhood cancer survivor, he is passionate about the Pelotonia movement and he started and is currently Captain of the Team Archall Peloton. In his time outside the office he enjoys playing tennis, spending time with family and friends and as a native northeast Ohioan, he’s a proud Browns season ticketholder…(There’s always next year!)

We look forward to sharing more about our team on the blog through the coming months.  Our people really are what sets us apart as a firm and we work to create a culture where our team understands that successful projects are created from successful relationships.
